About 160 soldiers from the Cal Guard's 649th Engineer Company returned to California after a yearlong deployment to the Middle East on Saturday, Sep. 30, 2017. Family, friends, Cal Guard leadership, volunteer Patriot Riders, and local media gathered to greet about 100 of the Chico-based unit's soldiers as they flew into the Sacramento International Jet Center.
