During many months of last year a spirit of discontent hadbeen carefully stimulated through practically the entire Rail-way Service of the Sister Isle, and this country. In thiscountry a meeting of Delegates of the Amalgamated Societyof Railway Servants was held in the Trades Hall, Capel street,Dublin, upon the 21st of May, 1897, under the presidency ofthe late Mr. Edward Harford, London, General Secretary, whoopened the Conference with a short address.
