The engine attracted agreat deal of interest and admiration. It is destined forthe Chicago Edison Company. The Silvey Storage Battery Car. The early history of the storage battery, togetherwith the struggles of its inventors to perfect an economi-cal, durable and reliable cell, are familiar to electriciansgenerally. The repeated failures in this linecan be traced largely to the crudeness of de-sign and development of the different batterysystems, and also in part to the use of motorsdesigned and constructed for use with theoverhead system. In the year 1890 W. L. Silvey, of Dayton,O., began to make storage batteries after along series of experiments on different type
