Martin Mere is a mere near Burscough, in Lancashire, England, on the West Lancashire Coastal Plain. The mere is a vast marsh, and until it was drained, the largest body of fresh water in England. Autumn and winter are fantastic times to visit the nature reserve and enjoy the abundance of waterfowl. In autumn, up to 40,000 pink-footed geese use the reserve as a stopping point on their migration from Iceland.
