The amazing neobaroque Gran Teatro de la Habana located in the Centro Gallego district of Havana in Cuba. It is the home of the acclaimed Ballet Nacional de Cuba which was founded in 1948 by Alicia Alonso. It is also the home of the Cuban National Opera. It has been a theatre since 1838 and contains the grandiose Teatro Garcia Lorca and two other smaller concert halls: the Sala Ernesto Lecuono and the Sala Alejo Carpentier. Outside on the street typical Cuban life goes by - old American cars, pedal taxis, street traders and shoe shiners all ply their trade under the hot Caribbean sun.
