Farmers land in it's fallow year - greenbelt to become a controversial housing estate
RESIDENTS fear plans for 400 homes on green field sites at Grappenhall Heys are a “done deal” which will have a major impact on the local community. The proposed development will cover a large area of the local countryside around a pathway which currently leads to Grappenhall Cricket Club. Although local residents have always known the land has been earmarked for further development there are concerns over the scale of the proposed development which has been outlined by the Homes and Communities Agency – and lack of facilities to support the community. “Although a public meeting has been called it hasn’t been very well publicised with just a few signs being posted in the area. The proposed development of 400 properties at Grappenhall Heys will include a mix of 2, 3, 4 & 5 bed homes, including town houses and 30% (120) will be affordable homes.
