The crime took place in the apartment where the girl named Micaela lived with his father and stepmother. The child was found dead on the morning of 19 January 2016 and the girl's body was only released for burial on the afternoon of 21 January at Irajá Cemetery. Rio police arrested red-handed father and stepmother of the girl who were accused of having committed the crime. Also lived in the apartment a 25 year-old man called Wellington the son of the stepmother. Wellington said he only would have realized that the child was dead by morning since arriving at dawn saw her lying on the couch and thought she was asleep.
