IT is with feelings of mingled misapprehension and qniel satisfaction, thatone sits himself down to pen the Editorial of this, the sixteenth volume ofThe Kaleidoscope; misapprehension lest the feeble effort of his pen seemsadly our of place among surroundings, aesthetically so beautiful; satisfactionbecause this very effort presages the end, the happy completion of a taskarduous, though mine the less pleasant on that account. But hark! Throughthe corridors of ones brain comes the austere command, which continues torepeat itself: Write! And one urges himself to the effort, however unworthythat may he. Perhaps the recitation of ones experience might not he ill said in thisconnection.
