It iscomposed of two skeleton frames of steel, hinged together by bolts. Thesteel bed does away with the \varping sometimes experienced with thewooden bed when exposed to a hot sun. Warping of the bed throws thestandards of the reel out of alignment, which makes the axle of the reelbind in its bearings.
