Visitors arriving at the main gated entrance to the 12th/13th century medieval built Castle Rushen in the centre of Castletown on the south coast of the Isle of Man, Britain. It is now used as an educational centre and museum. The Isle of Man with its capital city, Douglas is located in the middle of the Irish Sea between northern England and northern Ireland. The island is independent of Britain and not a member of the European Union. It has the status of 'crown dependency', similar to Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands But its inhabitants are British citizens. The Isle of Man is world famous for its annual TT motorcycle races and also it is the home of the rare cat, the Manx Cat as it has no tail.
