The systemof heating cars by steam from the engine is not socompletely satisfactory, proper regulation being thechief difficulty, and complaints of overheating arecommon. Both in the steam-pipes and in the old-fashioned foot-warmers, acetate of soda is used forthe better retention of the heat.
