A series of twelve close up macro photos detailing making Bubble Tea or Boba Tea. Taiwan is the birthplace of the phenomenon that is Bubble Tea.


PHOTO ONE The pearls are then used in store within a short period of time. They are placed into a pan of boiling water for exactly two minutes, as the raft of timers on the wall in the kitchen demonstrates - the timing to get the perfect chewy consistency is crucial. PHOTO TWO AND THREE The pearls are now placed at the bottom of a glass laced with a sugary syrup PHOTO FOUR Next, ice is added to a cocktail shaker before pouring in a small amount of liquid sugar followed by black tea which has been roasted and brewed to perfection and had milk added to it. PHOTO FIVE AND SIX It’s shaken thoroughly to mix and cool the drink. PHOTO SEVEN Each drink is then tested it has the correct amount of sweetness using a device called a refractometer and it allows for each drink to be tailored for each customers personal taste. PHOTO EIGHT The drink is then poured slowly into the glass on top of the tapioca pearls, including the ice. PHOTO NINE The outside of the glass will be chilled and the drink nice and cold, perfect for the hot weather in Taiwan. Bubbles will form a nice froth on top and your drink is ready to enjoy.
