The patient suffers from multiple sclerosis causing refractory neuropathic pain, requiring intrathecal pain killer treatment. He has an abdominal intrathecal pump. The pump is refilled with a 40ml dose of Ziconotide (Prialt) every fortnight. The doctor looks at the pump to see the remaining quantity of pain killer.
