Mr. Miller is the son of William and Ade-laide Gerish (Barrett) Miller. His fathersancestors were early settlers in Virginia;the name being originally Millern; the n was dropped about 1790. His mothersancestors, named Eddy on the distaff side, England Association of Gas Engineers, Feb-ruary 19, 1901. He is a member of the. A. B. Miller settled near Plymouth in 1630. He marriedEdith A. Canning, October 7, 1902. Miller, Carroll (, 96), was born inRichmond, Va., March 18, 1875. He waswith the Illinois Steel Co., Chicago, 1896-97;the New Amsterdam Gas Co., Long IslandCity, N. Y., 1897; in the London office ofHumphreys & Glasgow, 1897-98; with theUnited Gas Improvement Co., Philadelphia,first as superintendent of the gasworks at FallRiver, Mass., 1898-99, and next as super-intendent of the Market St. works, Newark,N. J., 1899-1901. He has been a consulting-engineer in Chicago, 111., from 1901 to 1901-02 he made two trips to Japanto investigate the advisability of and makearrangements for installing gas in one ofthe large cities.
