The ease with which a pumpmay be removed from the barrel, and with which the workingparts, such as the valves and cylinder, are reached and removedfor cleaning or adjustment, are important points. A good bar-rel pump should have a large air chamber so that a steady pres-sure of 75 pounds can be maintained with four nozzles. A goodpump with hose and 10-foot bamboo extension rod, and nozzles, can be purchased for from $15 to $30. A good nozzle is of next importance, and many beginners failto secure good results in spraying through buying a cheap nozzlefrom some local dealer. The two types of nozzles shown in fig-ure 13 are the best for orchard work. ]\Iany similar typesslightly varying from these are on the market, each having itsadvocates, and all doing fairly satisfactory work.
