Trinity Quay at the Port of Felixstowe, Britain's largest container terminal.
The Port of Felixstowe is the largest container port in the UK and is one of the largest in Europe. Trinity Quay spans miles, making it one of the longest continuous quaysides in the world. This, together with Felixstowe's deep waters, gives the port the ability to accommodate the largest container vessels in operation. The port dates back to 1875 when 'The Felixstowe Railway and Pier Company' was founded by Colonel George Tomline, a prominent local landowner. Today the port is operated by Hutchison Whampoa Port Holdings but much of the land is owned by Trinity College, Cambridge.
