Marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and Navy Sailors with Expeditionary Strike Group 2, depart the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) aboard Landing Craft, Utility 1654, to support Hurricane Maria relief efforts, in the Caribbean Sea, Sept. 27, 2017. The 26th MEU is supporting Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, in helping those affected by Hurricane Maria to minimize suffering and is one component of the overall whole-of-government response effort.
