A practical treatise on fractures and dislocations . ief that it is in deference to the distinguished reputation of thesurgeons who have during the last thirty years had charge of theservices in that hospital, and who have been so loud in its praise, that the use of this apparatus has, with us, become so general. Ibelieve, also, that, in some measure, this general preference is duefairly to the intrinsic excellence of the dressing. But I must be per-mitted to express a doubt whether it has made deformities of theclavicle the exception, instead of the rule, with us. I have seen it in many of the hospitals, and Mr. Bicker-steth, one of the surgeons of the Liverpool Infirmary, informed me,. E. Bartletts Apparatus.—For anaxillary pad, roll a strip of woollenflannel, four or five inches wide, aroundthe axillary strap, to the size apparatus may be used for eitherside by changing the attachment of thesling.
