Portrait of Lucas Vorsterman I; Iconographie. The painter and engraver Lucas Vorsterman I (1595-1675): knee piece, to the right. Vorsterman was working as an engraver at the age of 12. In 1617 or 1618 he came as a student in the studio of the Antwerp artist Peter Paul Rubens, where he received the master's title in 1620. Rubens let Frosterman engravings to his paintings. The relationship deteriorated and Vorsterman left for England in 1624. After his return around 1630, he worked for Antoon van Dyck among others.
