Cervical spine mobilisation treatment. Physiotherapist manipulating the cervical (neck) region of a young child's spine, during a spinal mobilisation treatment session. Mobilisation is a form of manual manipulation designed to increase mobility in a patient. Manipulation involves the application of pressure or stretching to correct imbalances and tension in a patient's muscles, tendons and ligaments. This can be used to treat injuries or disorders of the musculoskeletal system, such as those affecting the joints between bones, as found in the spine.
