Voskresensky church built in 1776


Architecture of Suzdal. Architectural complex " Museum of wooden architecture and peasant life'. Voskresensky church has very original design-it is constructed as "ship", that is all its parts - an altar, main volume, belltower, western porch - are built on one axis. Builders have put octahedron on top of tetrahedron to build the main part of temple. From the West side Voskresensky church adjoins refectory church and tent belltower. Church as has been moved from its native land village Patakino in Kameshkovsky region. Suzdal is ancient Russian town in the Vladimir Region, belongs to so-called Golden Ring of Russia outstandingly rich in historical architectural monuments. Picturesquely and evenly covering whole territory of the town, they make up an architectural ensemble of rare beauty and integrity. The style created by ancient architects adds to the charms of this old town, the history of which numbers almost in millenniums. The museum of wooden architecture is located in outskirts of Suzdal close to Kamenka river on site of former Dmitryevsky Monastery, dating back to 11th century.
