Standing stones in snow, at Stanton Drew stone circle, Stanton Drew, near Chew Magna, Somerset, Great Britain.

Prehistoric stone circles are a feature of much of Britain's countryside, signifying the ancient nature of human settlement in this ancient landscape. They are more common in some areas than in others, with this one at Stanton Drew, a few miles south of the city of Bristol, in an area where there are relatively few. Stanton Drew is quite well preserved, and is a very large circle, standing on the edge of a farming village of the same name.
