Both the chorioidal and retinal vessels contrast by theirdarker red with the very light red of the background, the hue of which is produced by the white sclera ihining through the chorio-capillaris. It is only at the macula lutea that the somewhat darker hue ofthe fundus gives evidence of the presence of a slight pigmentation of the chorioid.
