The Oriental realm lies southward from the Himalaya andNanling ranges. See map on page 132. This realm extendsalmost to New Guinea and Australia. The orang-outan, one of the great man-like apes, is a native ofBorneo and Sumatra. Apes of this species weave rude nests amongbranches and are rarely seen on the ground.
