Not only isthe rich surface appearance of the best leather imitated, but inmany cases excelled, as effects are produced which are impossibleon leather, while the feel of the imitation leather is equal to thatof the real article. The surface is firm, but flexible, and it can onlybe scratched with difficulty, while its wearing qualities are said tobe greater than real leather. It stands extreme heat and cold, andit is claimed that the face does not become sticky nor will it peeloff. The surface can be washed and scrubbed even with boilingwater or disinfectant without injury, and it is not easily damagedby grease, acids or dampness. The composition is known as Pegamoid, and which is usedin the process controlled by this company is also furnished in theform of paint.
