Authors generally agree that women suffer from malignantdisease more frequently than men, as the following statisticswill show: Out of the 177,300 deaths from cancer in all partsof the body mentioned above by WilHams, 53,867 were males,and 123,433 females. No organ of the body is exempt from cancer. In the rec-tum, which is one of its favorite points of attack, it is undoubt-edly the most distressing and fatal affection with which theproctologist has to contend.
