A magnificent hunting hanger German/French, late 19th century. Straight, double-edged blade with double fullers, the base of the blade with French maker´s inscription. Cast and engraved hilt of silver-plated brass in the shape of an ancient hero, clad in a lion´s skin, sword in hand and standing on a winged dragon. Leather-covered scabbard, the mounts decorated en suite with motifs from Greek mythology set between architectural and floral ornaments.
