Frances, a 300 mile-wide category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale, is approximately 250 miles east-southeast of the Florida East Coast, moving at near 9 knots. Maximum sustained winds remain near 120 MPH with winds extending outwards up to 85 miles.
