HOLSTEIN FAMILY HISTORY. 11/ Pennsylvania. Dr. Jacob Dewees, bom March 29, 1792; diedJanuary 23, 1872. Isaac Wayne Hughes, born in Montgomery county, Feb-ruary 14, 1804; graduated in medical department of Universityof Pennsylvania in 1825 ; moved to Newbern, North Carolina,June I, 1825 ; married in 1829 Eliza A. McLin, daughter ofThomas and Eliza McLin, of Newbern, North Carolina. Theceremony was performed by Rev. Lemuel Hatch (Presby-terian). Mrs. Hughes died in Newbern, in 1842, in the 33dyear of age. She was celebrated for her beauty. Dr. Hughes continued actively engaged in the practiceof his profession at Newbern, except a short time during thelate war. He went to Goldsboro the day after the capture ofNewbern, and moved from there to Charlotte, North Carolina,where he continued the practice of medicine; returned toNewbern in 1865, where he resided the remainder of hislife. His success was brilliant and substantial. Dr. Isaac married again at Newbern,
