Karl Rechlin (1804 - 1882) - "Retreat", painted ca. 1830/1840. Wounded Prussian drummer is led on horseback across a bridge by a peasant girl. In the background more infantrymen and horsemen. Szene from the Napoleonic Wars 1813/15, signed on the lower right "Rechlin". Oil on canvas, in gilded stucco frame, 21 x 23 cm. Seal of the merchant's company on the stretcher, as well as an appraisal from a Museum in Polish language (Posen 1962). Karl Rechlin worked as a painter in Berlin and was influenced by Franz Krüger.
