Lepocinclis freshwater protist, light micrograph


Light micrograph of Lepocinclis spirogyroides (formerly Euglena spirogyra), an euglenoid protist with a red eyespot and helical rows of small warts. With several green chloroplasts and some paramylon grains inside the cell. The focus plane is on the upper surface of the protist cell to show the striping and small warts. Microscopic contrast technique: Differential interference contrast. Magnification: 950x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
