Located by the Mediterranean in Alexandria, Egypt, the spectacular Bibliotheca Alexandrina Library is a homage to - and re-imagining of - the Ancient Library of the City; this perished by fire in antiquity, 2000 years in 2009, this new cultural centre not only houses space for eight million books, but a range of conference centres, art galleries, exhibitions and a planetarium. Here we see its interior, including its innovative glass and triangular panel-clad ceiling.
