A German flintlock "Stutzen" (short rifle), circa 1700. Octagonal barrel with slightly swamped muzzle and eight groove rifled bore in 14 mm calibre. Finely engraved muzzle. Dovetailed sights. The lock is certainly not original. Mainspring and some screws are replacements. Double set trigger. Beautifully carved walnut full stock with fine decorative vine work. Smooth iron furniture.
