A Swiss mordaxt in early 17th century style. With head of two-part construction, formed of a central spike of Jack diamond section with flattened shoulders at the base and extending to form a pair of straps, axe-blade struck with a mark on one side, rear fluke of stiff diamond section tapering to a point, the head retained by a transverse bolt with pyramidal heads, and in "aged" condition: on a modern faceted wooden haft.
