Mrs. Faustwas born Feb. 11. 1849. Their chil-. 370 dren are as follows: IMstilda, Z\Irs. Longaci-e, of town,, Richard J.,or New York City, and John E., ofMount Union. Mr. Faust was 17 years a schooldirector, the schools being graded un-der his administration, He has beenJustice of the Pesce since Gov. Patti-sons term. THE JUNIATA OAK EXTRACT CO. The ])lant of the .Juniata Oak Ex-tract is one of the newer manu-facturing establishments of MountUnion. It is the out£;-owth of the SaltilloTannery. It is operated also lisclose connection with the MdiUntUnion Tanning Co. whose large described elsewhere in this issue,,although each plant is operated sepa-rately. This illustrates the trend of mod-ern leather making. During recentyears the impoitant tannin bearingbarks, such as the oaks and hemlock,have become so scarce from the cut-ting down of our once great foreststhat the Irrge tanning industry had*to search in other directions for asufficient supply of
