Ice-rich impact crater on Mars, TGO image


ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) image showing the concentric rings of an ice-rich impact crater on Acidalia Planitia, Mars. These ice deposits are believed to have formed at an earlier time in Mars' history when the planet's spin axis to form at lower inclinations. Image obtained on the 13th of June 2021 by the Cassis camera on the ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter.
