La Oliva, Fuerteventura: volcano and Casa de los Coroneles
La Oliva, Fuerteventura, Canary Isles. Next to one of the island's many extinct volcanoes, the Casa de los Coroneles was opened, after restoration, in 2006 by Spain s King Juan Carlos as an art media gallery. For 100 years from 1708, the colonels' militia wielded great power in the island. The Canaries are a group of islands lying 100 kilometres to the west of the north African coast.
