Subliming naphthalene and hexachlorethane crystals from mixture in ethanolic solution X200

Crystals exhibit bi-refringence when viewed between cross polarisers in a special microscope. The colours are sometimes very beautiful and they can be changed by rotating the beam of light. Crystals that are subliming or decomposing sometimes form really spectacular colours and strange shapes. These pictures were taken using a digital camera on a research polarising microscope.
