1932 - Tugs towing a P & O (Peninsular & Orient) liner under Sydney Harbour bridge , NSW, Australia soon after it was opened by Premier, Jack Lang (nicknamed 'The Big Fella'). His initial cutting of the ribbon was interrupted by a man , (Francis de Groot), on horse back in a 'New Guard' (right-wing paramilitary group )military uniform who cut it with a sword. He was arrested and the ribbon re-tied. Speeches were made by the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Philip Game, and the Minister for Public Works, Lawrence Ennis.
