Male pelvic floor, artwork. The pelvic floor provides support to the pelvic organs, such as the bladder and prostate, and maintains continence as part of the anal and urinary sphincters. The penis is at top and the anus is at centre. Surrounding the penis and extending around the anus to the spine is the bulbospongiosus, which aids urination and ejaculation. On either side of the penis are the ischiocavernousus muscles (red), which stabilise the erect penis. Across centre is the transverse perineal muscle. Beneath the anus is the levator ani, the coccygeus is at bottom centre. These muscles support the pelvic organs. At lower right and left are the sacrotuberous ligaments (white).
