The palace of Westminster or Parliament Buildings comprises the House of Commons and the House of Lords, Rebuilt in the 19th Century, in Gothic Revival style, specifically inspired by the English Perpendicular Gothic style of the 14th–16th centuries. The Clerk of the Parliaments, to whom Black Rod reports, is in overall charge of the administration of the House, which provides all other services for Members of the Lords. Black Rod's parliamentary duties fall into two categories: administrative and ceremonial.
