Historic WWI newspaper image taken at the British Veterinary HQ, France, exercising wounded horses during their convalescence. A number of Base Veterinary Hospitals were established including those at La Chapelle-aux-Pots, Le Havre, Abbeville and Rouen. In 1917 the HQ was moved to Italy. By 1918 there were dozens of AVC units operating on or near the front
