The popular McCarren Pool in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in New York reopens after a being closed since 1984, seen on the opening day of the city pools in New York on Thursday, June 28, 2012. The pool, built in 1936, opened the outdoor pool season in New York after its multi-million dollar renovation. The enormous swimming pool can hold 1500 bathers and will likely become the go to place for the hipsters of Williamsburg. (© Richard B. Levine)
