The remains of Atsinna Pueblo built by Zuni Indians on top of El Morro, a huge cuesta rising above the surrounding landscape in what is now north western New Mexico. The ruins date from the late 1200s and were only occupied for a relatively short period - 75 years. It may have been they were only meant to be occupied for a short time or it may have been adverse climatic conditions - drought and heat especially, that may have driven them from the river valleys to the hgh ground of el morro
