To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, Thomas Alva Edison,of Menlo Park, in the county of Middlesex andState of New Jersey, have invented an Im-provement in Electric Lights, and the follow-ing is declared to be a description of thesame. The object of this invention is to produce acandle or light-giving body by the incandes-cence of a conductor of electricity in the formof a cylinder, prism, or other mass of a sizeadapted to yield the required volume of light. The invention consists in an electric-light-giving body formed of a conductor, such asfinely-divided platinum, iridium, rutbinium, orother metal difficult of fusion, incorporatedwith non-conducting material.
