Grey Seal juvenile at Donna Nook, MOD and Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust land.
A young grey seal seeks protection from an aggressive male, preferring to approach humans and hide behind dunes at Donna Nook. Males often kill pups. Donna Nook is Ministry of Defence land but every November, hundreds of grey seals land on the dunes to give birth. The coastal path is managed by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust (LWT). Visitors are welcome and the seals love being photographed, even posing for the camera. The reserve is rich in bird life: 47 species of bird breed regularly and the area is famous for more uncommon passage migrants and rarities; over 250 species have been recorded in total.
