From a report, full of interesting in- formation on the Riviera flower indus- try, issued by M. Aussel, secretary of the French Floral Industry League, it would appear that the value of the flowers anuually dispatched from the French and Italian Riviera is no less than $12,028,820 and will this year ex- ceed $12,200,000. The average number of boxes of flowers dispatched from the various French Riviera stations be- tween November and May in each year is 2,000,000. As the average value of each box is 16 francs ($), the total commercial value of the flowers sold from the French Riviera every year is $6,200,000. From the Italian side no less than 1,000,000 boxes were dis- patched in 1913, the commercial value of which was $5,800,000. Dealing more particularly with the French trade, M. Aussel says that apart from the roses, carnations, violets, etc., sent away, flowers to the value of $1,550,000 are utilized annually by the local perfumery and preserved sweet factories. The average annual net profits made out of the French flower trade on the Riviera by the actual growers is $2,725,000, but most of the Riviera flower growers likewise grow early vegetables and fruit, and the profit from W&de in the latter is e
