Brain activity in speech production. Coloured functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRIf) scan of an axial section through the healthy brain of a 30-year-old male patient during a motor activation test of language, showing activation (highlighted, upper right) in the motor areas near the sylvian fissure and Broca's area. This supports the theory that the motor areas also deal with language comprehension and speech production.
