Mr. Stone has been a member of theMasonic fraternity since attaining hismajority, and is also a member ofLaconia grange and the BelknapPomona grange. He married July 7, 1870, Minnie of Sudbury, Vt., who diedSeptember 22, 1875, leaving one daugh-ter, Flora M. Stone. Mr. Stone mar- ried September 12, 1896, Mrs. IsabelSmith Munsey of Laconia. In religiousmatters Mr. Stone is of the progressiveand liberal type and has long beenactively connected with the LaconiaUnitarian church. Edwin H. Hon. Charles F. Stone Edwin Howe Shannon, of the lawfirm of Stone &: Shannon, was born inGilmanton, March 8, 1S58, son ofJames C. and Judith W. (Batchelder)Shannon. Hetraces his descentin the paternalline from an earlysettler of Ports-mouth, his grand-father, GeorgeShannon, havingbeen born in thatplace. In the ma-ternal line hecomes of the fam-ily which was re-lated to that ofthe famous states-man, Daniel Web-ster, his great-grandmother hav-ing been a cousinof the Shannon re-ceived his educa-tion in the publicschools of his na-tive town, and atGilmanton Acad-emy. He studied1 a w w i t h Cogswell of Gilmanton, andwas admitted to the bar in 1881. Mr. Shannon then became a partnerof Colonel Cogswell, remaining such forabout a year, when the partnership wasdissolved by mutual consent, Mr. Shan-non seeking a wider field for practiceth
