Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 171 refuel a Black Hawk UH-60 helicopter at a forward arming and refueling point (FARP) during exercise Orient Shield 2022 at Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Camp Ebino, Japan, Aug. 31, 2022. A FARP is a temporary location used for fueling and rearming an aircraft outside of a forward operating base. Orient Shield 2022 is the largest Army and JGSDF bilateral field training exercise executed in multiple locations throughout Japan to enhance interoperability and test and refine multi-domain and cross-domain operations.
